Don’t Put Off Health and Safety Courses
In can often be tempting, particularly in tough economic times, to put off attending health and safety courses until sometime later on in the future. With the price of many health and safety qualifications being a large amount of money, particularly ones such as a NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 5 Health and Safety qualification which cost over a thousand pounds each. However, as well as a moral and legal obligation to ensure that those working for you can/are doing so safely, there are also financial reasons for making workers attend courses in health and safety, and can end up being much less of a financial outlay than would need to be paid as a result of being successfully sued by one or more employees.
So putting off that health and safety training can result in serious negative consequences for both you personally as an owner/manager and for your company itself. If you are found to be in breach of health and safety law and legislation, you could face criminal charges such as manslaughter if you could and should have prevented a death from occurring, not to mention having to live with the guilt for the rest of your life. Even if things don't become as serious as that, you or your company could still find itself having to pay out thousands of pounds in compensation to somebody who was injured or made ill whilst at work as a result of inadequate safety provisions or lack of suitable training.
