Refresher Health and Safety Training
Providing workers and employees with health and safety training can help them to stay safe in the workplace. The immeasurable number of risks and potential dangers to their health and well-being means that there is a lot of information to take in. This makes it unlikely that a delegate on a safety training course will take in and remember every single piece of information imparted to them. Even if they were somehow able to do this, as time goes by they are likely to forget some of it and begin to slip into bad practices. It may also be the case that since they received the training there have been changes to the workplace or the activities the person performs at work, meaning that some parts of the training will no longer be relevant. In some cases it may even be detrimental and place the worker in greater danger, for example if a change in workplace layout means that previous evacuation procedures and escape routes will now trap a worker rather than allowing them to exit a building.
As far as accredited health and safety qualifications are concerned, a number of them have refresher courses which are intended to update candidate's knowledge with changes in legislation and working practices, as well as refreshing their memories with any of the information taught previously which they have since forgotten. Courses such as the IOSH Managing Safely Refresher and CITB SMSTS Certificates are examples of this. For more information on these refresher courses, as well as the 'Full' IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS and SSSTS qualifications, please click on the relevant IOSH and CITB options from the "Health & Safety" drop-down tab at the top of the page to read the course syllabus for each, along with scheduled open course dates and locations across the United Kingdom.
