NEBOSH Construction Certificate

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety to give it its full title, is one of the most recognised health and safety qualificatons in the construction industry.
It is aimed primarily at managers, supervisers, CDM co-ordinators and anyone else who is responsible for making sure that construction activities under their control are undertaken safely.
The scope of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate also makes it suitable for managers and supervisors who are not specifically in the construction industry, but have a need to oversee the safe construction of temporary workplaces and structures. An example includes outside broadcasting of sporting events such as golf tournaments where temporary stands, television camera stands etc. need to be erected.
The BCF Group are pleased to announce that NEBOSH Construction Certificate classroom training courses have now resumed.
The health and well-being of our customers and staff members is our top priority, which means that for the foreseeable future, certain safety measures will have to be in place. This includes classrooms configured to allow for social distancing, and a reduction of the number of people able to book on and attend each course.
Benefits of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate
The qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Technician membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of IIRSM (the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management).

Exams and Assessment

NEBOSH provide standard exam sittings which are conducted every three months. Some providers enrol their candidates in these exam dates in order to keep costs to a minimum and offer low prices. Unfortunately though this can mean a wait of up to three months between the conclusion of the course and taking your exams, which is a lot of time to forgot most of what you learnt at the beginning of the course. So many lost marks will normally result in a failing of one of more unit, no qualification, and the need for a further re-sit (possibly in another three months time!), and of course even more information may have been forgotten by then. So trying to save time and money has actually ended up costing you a lot more of both!
Training providers are able to pay NEBOSH for the privilege of calling exams at their own venues whenever they choose. This means that exams can be scheduled straight after the conclusion of the training. Rather than forgetting what was taught because of a long wait, candidates go into the exams with the knowledge fresh in their minds, which is vital for examination success.
The exams for the classroom courses are scheduled for the week following the course, to give you the best chance of remembering the information and passing the exams first time.
This accredited NEBOSH qualification is assessed by one exam which lasts 2 hours, and a workplace-based practical assessment project. The exam is conducted in our training centres at the end of your course, and the project is completed in your own workplace. The project should take no longer than 3 hours to complete and you will have 7 days from the end of the course to return it to us by post.
How are Classroom Courses Run?

All of our NEBOSH Construction Certificate classroom courses are run as full-time block weeks, Monday to Friday 9am until approximately 5pm. In our many years of experience we have consistently found that full-time block courses with exams scheduled straight after equates to a significantly improved likelihood of delegates passing all of the assessments required for actually achieving the qualification.
Unlike online or distance learning courses, having a course tutor present in the room, able to answer questions there and then, provides a significant benefit and is a key component of achieving high pass rates.

NEBOSH Construction Certificate and Electrical Safety

The health and safety risks associated with electricity are numerous and potentially deadly. For this reason, electrical safety is an important component of any health and safety training programme. It is also a common element on the syllabus of many accredited health and safety qualifications, especially construction-related ones, and the NEBOSH Construction Certificate and CITB SMSTS Site Management courses are no exception.
Electricity is a major hazard on any construction site with the potential to cause death or severe injury through electric shocks, electrical burns, fires from sparks or overheating equipment, and falls from height such as from scaffolding as the force of a shock can throw a person through the air or cause them to lose full control of leg muscles so they stagger in shock and fall over the side. Electrical cabling can easily be damaged, particularly over a period of time, as a result of the harsh conditions that come with being outdoors and being dragged over hard material on a construction site such as abrasive sandy concrete or sharp objects.
Because of the high risk of fire which electricity can pose, fire safety training courses also focus on electricity and how easy it is for poorly maintained or defective pieces of equipment to start a fire which can cause major damage to both people and buildings/contents.
