NEBOSH Fire Certificate

The NEBOSH Fire Certificate, or NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate to give it its full title, is a fire safety training course aimed primarily at managers and supervisors who are responsible for fire safety within their organisation and compliance with applicable fire safety legislation.
The NEBOSH Fire Certificate course aims to give delegates the knowledge to conduct and review fire risk assessments, along with fire prevention and protective measures within most workplaces.

Classroom Course Distance LearningBenefits of the NEBOSH Fire Certificate
The NEBOSH Fire Certificate qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Technician membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of IIRSM (the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management).
Obtaining the NEBOSH Fire Certificate will allow you to:
- Develop a knowledge of fire safety legislation and its impact on your workplace, including the legal framework relating to fire-specific health and safety
- Assist your company's fire safety management programme
- Assess workplace fire hazards and develop fire control measures
- Advise on the means of fire protection and prevention of fire spread within buildings
- Advise on the development and maintenance of a fire evacuation procedure
- Identify the causes of fire and explosion, as well as outlining appropriate control measures to minimise fire risks
- Outline the principles behind ignition and spread of fire and explosion in work premises
- Appreciate the purpose and procedures of investigating fires in the workplace
- Use a simple fire risk assessment technique to determine fire risk levels and assess the adequacy of controls
- Develop a basis for a future career in fire and occupational safety
Exams and Assessment

NEBOSH provide standard exam sittings which are conducted every three months. Some providers enrol their candidates in these exam dates in order to keep costs to a minimum and offer low prices. Unfortunately though this can mean a wait of up to three months between the conclusion of the course and taking your exams, which is a lot of time to forgot most of what you learnt at the beginning of the course. So many lost marks will normally result in a failing of one of more unit, no qualification, and the need for a further re-sit (possibly in another three months time!), and of course even more information may have been forgotten by then. So trying to save time and money has actually ended up costing you a lot more of both!
Training providers are able to pay NEBOSH for the privilege of calling exams at their own venues whenever they choose. This means that exams can be scheduled straight after the conclusion of the training. Rather than forgetting what was taught because of a long wait, candidates go into the exams with the knowledge fresh in their minds, which is vital for examination success.
All of our classroom NEBOSH courses have the exams scheduled a few days after the training. This ensures that delegates go into the exams with all of the information fresh in their minds, which provides a far better chance of passing first time.
This accredited NEBOSH qualification is assessed by one exam which lasts 2 hours, and a workplace-based practical fire risk assessment project. The exam is conducted in our training centres at the end of your course, and the project is completed in your own workplace. The project should take no longer than 3 hours to complete and you will have 7 days from the end of the course to return it to us by post. If you are currently unemployed, we can usually arrange somewhere for you to conduct a workplace assessment. If this is something you require, please contact us before booking.
If you are taking the full NEBOSH Fire Certificate course, you will also have an exam at the end of the NGC1 unit.
How are Classroom Courses Run?

All of our NEBOSH Fire Certificate courses are run as full-time block weeks, Monday to Friday 9am until approximately 5pm.
Although the NEBOSH Fire Certificate is available via distance learning format, in our many years of experience we have consistently found that full-time block courses with exams scheduled straight after equates to a significantly improved likelihood of delegates passing all of the assessments required for actually achieving the qualification. NEBOSH Fire Certificate Classroom Courses

At the BCF Group, we offer the NEBOSH Fire Certificate as a classroom course in two ways: the full course and a conversion course. The full NEBOSH Fire Certificate course contains the mandatory NGC1 unit, which is the same unit that is taught in the NEBOSH General Certificate syllabus. This means that if you have already taken and passed the NEBOSH General Certificate in the last five years, you don't need to repeat this NGC1 unit. Candidates in this position can take the NEBOSH Fire Certificate conversion course which does not repeat this unit and so is both shorter in duration and less expensive than the full course.
The certificate achieved at the end of both courses is the same, i.e. the official NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate; it just means that thanks to the modular make-up of the qualifications those who have already achieved the NGC1 unit do not have to do it all again!
There are no hidden extras to pay on top of our health and safety training course prices, unlike other providers who charge extra for things like study books and exam fees. The NEBOSH Fire Certificate courses have the following included in the course cost:
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate Study Book
- NEBOSH Exam Fees
- NEBOSH Certificate Fees
- Lunchtime Buffet
- Refreshments Throughout The Day
- Free All-Day Car Parking **
** Except London (Barbican) venue. NCP car park nearby.

NEBOSH Fire Certificate Distance Learning
Introduction

Whilst we would always recommend a classroom course as the best option for learning the information, passing the assessments and achieving the qualification, we realise that for some people, taking over two weeks out of the workplace will simply not be an option. Therefore, we also offer an the NEBOSH Fire Certificate course by distance learning.
Support
Support is provided throughout, with expert tutors being available by phone, e-mail, Skype or secure messaging. Although it might not be as good as having a tutor right there with you in the room, you will still have a good support system in place as you progress with your distance learning studies. There is also an invitation-only Facebook Group where students can discuss topics with each other and NEBOSH course tutors.
Assessments
To achieve the qualification, candidates must pass one written exam (NFC1), and a practical assessment (NFC2) carried out in the candidate's own workplace. This practical assessment needs to be completed within 14 days of sitting the written examination.
Candidates also need to have completed both parts within five years of registration.
The NFC1 written exam can currently be taken at the following locations:
- London
- Birmingham
- Manchester
Cost and Additional Fees
The distance learning NEBOSH Fire Certificate course costs £395.00 + VAT. This price does not include the NFC1 and NFC2 exams/assessments. These can be booked when you have completed your studies and are ready to take them. Students enrolled with us receive a 50% discount on our NEBOSH exam only prices.
