NEBOSH International Diploma

Unlike the NEBOSH National Diploma which focuses specifically on UK law, the NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is intended for those who are currently, or who may in the future, be working outside of the UK elsewhere in the world.
Health and safety laws and legislation will differ from country to country. Therefore a course which tries to cover legislation for each country will not only be impractical, but would be irrelevant for anyone attending who would not be going to that country to work! The syllabus of the NEBOSH International Diploma instead concentrates on best practices and international conventions.
Who Should Enrol?

The NEBOSH International Diploma is intended to be taken by aspiring health and safety professionals, building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH International General Certificate.
It is designed to provide students with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study. There are no formal entry requirements for the NEBOSH International Diploma, however candidates should consider that this is professional level qualification, approximately equivalent to Level 6 (degree level).
Achievement of the NEBOSH International General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking this Diploma course is highly recommended. Also, candidates need to have a proficiency in English which allows them to understand and articulate the detailed content taught in the course syllabus. NEBOSH recommends a minimum score of 7.0 on the International English Language Testing Score, or equivalent.
A Prestigious Qualification

Holders of the NEBOSH International Diploma may use the designatory letters "IDipNEBOSH" after their name.
The NEBOSH International Diploma qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Graduate Membership (Grad IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). This is the first step to becoming a chartered health and safety practitioner as a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
It also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) as meeting the academic requirements for full membership (MIIRSM).
A NEBOSH Diploma provides a sound basis for progression to MSc and postgraduate level studies. A large number of universities across the globe offer MSc programs that accept the NEBOSH International Diploma as a full or partial entry requirement.
How is the NEBOSH International Diploma Qualification Structured?

The NEBOSH International Diploma qualification is divided into four units, each of which is assessed separately. The units can be taken in any order, but as Unit D is a written practical assessment, it is highly advisable to have completed and passed Units A, B and C first.
- Unit IA: Managing health and safety
- Unit IB: Hazardous agents in the workplace
- Unit IC: Work equipment and workplace safety
- Unit DNI: Application of health & safety theory and practice
