ILM LEVEL 7 EXECUTIVE AND SENIOR LEVEL COACHES AND MENTORS QUALIFICATIONS
In-House Option Available
This internationally recognised qualification is for leaders and managers who are regularly coaching at a senior level.
It is for those executive coaches who want to accredit, validate or enhance their skills and boost their credibility.
We are often asked what level 7 means. It is based on the Government’s National Qualification Framework and level 7 roughly relates to the equivalent of a Masters' degree.
As well as 'classroom days' carried out either face-to-face or on Zoom, our training involves some self-directed learning and three work-based assessments – this typically amounts to three hours a week for 12 months.
But don’t worry, we’ll help you through that with full tutor support at no additional cost.
By the end of the programme, you will be able to:
- Understand the theories of coaching and mentoring, as well as evaluating the contribution of leadership mentoring and executive coaching in developing leadership performance
- Use advanced communication techniques, including influencing tips, expectation management and basic neuroscience in coaching
- Analyse your own ability to perform effectively as a leadership mentor or executive coach
- Understand how the client’s (the person you are coaching) characteristics and organisational context affects their performance
- Use peer mentoring and reflective learning to develop as an effective leadership mentor or executive coach, and review own leadership mentoring or executive coaching practice to inform own development

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes. This is a fully accredited course certified by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). When you achieve the qualification, you receive ILM letters after your name either AMInstLM (Affiliate/Associate Member Institute Leadership & Management) or MInstLM (Member Institute Leadership & Management).
As with all ILM accredited programmes, you will need to complete the post-programme activity. These elements are designed to show you can put the skills and techniques learned on the programme into practice. We offer full support and guidance in completing these final elements.
You’ll need to come prepared with business issues/challenges that you are currently experiencing that you would be happy to discuss and be coached on.
We also send out a short document containing questions and exercises which will help our coaches understand you better and help them provide the best training.
You may also be invited to take part in a Paradigm Trait Map psychometric test. This will help you see how the use of these tests can benefit a coaching session and raise discussion topics.
You will need to complete three post-course activities to achieve ILM accreditation.
We offer one year of support, included in your course price, to help you complete these assessments and you have three years to finish the work.
Embedded in the assignments, the ILM Certificate requires delegates to complete 20 hours of logged coaching with 2-3 people. The Diploma requires delegates to complete 60 hours of logged coaching with 6-9 people.
Additional tutor guided learning will take the format of book and video reviews with ongoing tutor guidance and support via phone, Skype, Zoom or face-to-face.
The only difference is in the amount of logged coaching that is required post-course. If you want to achieve the Certificate, you need to complete 20 hours of logged coaching with 2-3 people. For the Diploma, you need to complete 60 hours of logged coaching with 6-9 people.
This is based on the Government’s National Qualification Framework. Level 7 roughly relates to the equivalent of a Master’s degree.
You will receive a workbook containing information, guidance and forms that will assist with the coaching sessions.
You may also complete a Paradigm psychometric report and will receive a year's membership of the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).
