This course was much more than I expected, I thought it was going to be a PowerPoint heavy tick box, like most of the courses I have completed, it developed me as a trainer giving me confidence in my own delivery style and approach to content creation. Darren was encouraging and engaging and showed a real passion for this course. I didn’t realise how much I was going to look into my own approach to the training I deliver guided fantastically by Darren his feedback was understandable and relatable to my own journey. Thanks so much.

I was really nervous about presenting to people before the course but Dan was so friendly and made me realise that I already had a lot of the skills necessary and I just had to tap into those. Then the practice really cemented things. I also got a lot of theory behind why what works actually works which was also super interesting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This programme is ILM accredited and leads to the ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, subject to successful completion of the required assessments.

To achieve the qualification, you’ll complete a set of work-based assignments after the taught sessions. These are designed to demonstrate that you can apply the coaching frameworks and techniques from the programme in real workplace coaching conversations.

You’ll be fully supported throughout. Our Head of Assessments, Laura Bridgeman, and her team will guide you through what’s required, provide feedback, and help you complete your submissions with confidence.

Most delegates complete the qualification alongside their day job, using real coaching conversations as evidence.

To get the most from the programme, we ask you to come prepared with two or three real workplace coaching scenarios — for example a leadership challenge, performance conversation, stakeholder relationship, or team dynamic.

You’ll use these scenarios throughout the course to practise coaching techniques, receive feedback, and build confidence in conversations you’re having right now.

Before the course, we’ll also send you a short pre-work document with a few reflective questions and exercises. This helps our facilitators understand your goals and tailor the experience so you get maximum value from the programme.

To achieve the ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, you’ll complete a set of structured, work-based activities after the taught programme. These are designed to evidence how you apply coaching skills in real workplace conversations.

You will complete:

  • Three work-based written assignments (based on your coaching practice and learning)

  • 18 hours of logged coaching, working with 2–3 coachees

  • Additional tutor-guided learning, including short book and video reflections linked to the qualification content

Support and timelines

  • We offer support for the duration of your qualification, included in your course price, to help you complete the assignments.

  • You have up to three years from registration to submit your work to ILM

  • Our assessment team will support you throughout — with guidance, feedback and check-ins via Zoom, phone or face-to-face

After the two-day course, you’ll receive access to the online refresher area, where you can book time with your assessor and find clear guidance on each element of the qualification.

Every delegate receives a programme workbook to support learning during the course and to use as a reference afterwards. It includes guidance, frameworks and practical tools to support your coaching conversations.

You’ll also receive one year’s membership of the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).

To help you complete the qualification successfully, we provide templates and structured guidance for each of the three ILM work-based assignments, alongside ongoing support from our assessment team.
